The five of us

There are very few pictures of my siblings and I together that aren't staged. There are a few group shots at a professional photography studio, more often with our children thrown in. Or there are awesome shots of our children, but not much with us. There are few in between. We have a million pictures taken of each other, but not of all of us together - only us, without one of us looking drunk or somehow not up for the picture.

The window of opportunity officially closed when my brother Jimmy died in 1993, at the age of 26. My sisters and I swore we would never take another group picture of "us" if he couldn't be a part of it. And we stuck to it.

After my grandmother's memorial, last weekend, I found pictures I did not know existed. I scanned them and sent them to my sisters, who also had never seen them before. They were from our grandparent's 50th anniversary in 1984. They are awesome. My sisters are smokin' hot. And I am, well, I am 13. I swear I got prettier. From the left, it usually goes Kouf, Bouf, me in my May Day dress, Jimmy, and Shouf.

Kouf, are you wearing a white satin jumpsuit? With black "fuck me pumps"?

Bouf emailed me from Arizona to tell me that she remembered buying that dress. In a size zero. Bitch...

Good pics. I like how your sister on the right is cracking up in both pics. Also odd that you're all the same height.

Shoufie on the right is always happy. Or always special. Depends on how you are looking at things. Jimmy never hit more than 5'5" or so, maybe 5'7", not much more than his sisters in heels, and that is the tallest on our side of the family. I'm actually the tallest female at this point at 5'2". My son towers over everyone, and loves it. My mother shrunk from 4'11" to 4'9". One of my nieces is just barely 4'11", which is just above "midget" status in Rhode Island.

We have short ladies in my family too - I am still the tallest, and I am only 5'4.5" (gotta throw the half in there)

How tall are you now? Still 5'2"

What gems to find!! Cute, cute, cute! Flashdance era?

At my parents' 50th anniversary next summer we better be getting some darn good shots of us all, posed or not because we have like, zero pix of all of us including my hubby and my sister's little boy who just turned 2.

(I have a dead brother too. Died in 1982. Sucks.)

Love it..your brother was quite the hottie. Poor thing..all those sisters.

I had to laugh at your comments Fantz. Yes, back then I had very few "good" shoes, so I did, indeed, wear black ef-me pumps with a white disco-style satin-like [polyester] dress. It was the rage. I can't believe you spared me on the awful poodle-style perm. Yikes! Are you sure it was 84? If so, that's my post-baby smokin' bod, K would have been about 2 years old! I loved & coveted that dress Bouf is wearing, she lent it to me to wear to my bridal shower. Shouf looks exceptionally pretty in these photos. And BTW I am also 5'2"!
